Rising Auto F7

2026-09-29 07:30:00

The Rising Auto F7 is an executive pure-electric liftback sedan introduced by Rising Auto (an independent new energy vehicle marque under SAIC Motor), first debuted in March 2023. As a core strategic model following the brand’s independent operation, it is positioned as a "new luxury intelligent enjoyment sedan", focusing on generous cabin space, robust powertrain performance, and an advanced smart cockpit experience. On 26 June 2025, the 2025 Rising Auto F7 was officially rolled out across 4 variant configurations, carrying an official retail price range between RM182,900 and RM211,900, alongside a limited-time promotional price tag from RM162,900 to RM191,900.

Design Language

The 2025 Rising Auto F7 retains its signature four-door coupe styling, distinguished by fluid body lines and a sleek fastback silhouette that exudes an athletic stance. Up front, it features a closed-off nose typical of dedicated EVs, flanked by split headlamp units where the upper slim LED daytime running lights—dubbed "Feather Light DRLs"—boast an intricate, feather-inspired graphic that ensures strong visual distinction when lit. A slim lower intake grille is integrated into the front bumper to channel cooling air to the powertrain and air-conditioning system while adding depth to the front fascia.

In profile, a dual-section shoulder line pairs with dual-tone five-spoke alloy wheels, flush pop-out door handles, and aerodynamic contours, delivering an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.206 Cd to minimise energy consumption and boost driving range. At the rear, a full-width LED tail light strip takes centre stage, interrupted at the centre by an illuminated "R" emblem; the light assembly features an embossed 3D profile for added visual texture.

Dimension-wise, the car measures 5,000 mm (alternatively listed as 4,990 mm) in length, 1,953 mm in width, and 1,494 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase typical of executive-class sedans. The generous 3,000 mm wheelbase guarantees exceptional legroom for rear passengers. In terms of exterior customisation, top-spec variants can be optioned with 20-inch Starry alloy wheels and Brembo high-performance four-piston brake calipers.

Inside, the 2025 F7 carries over the signature continuous triple-screen dashboard layout. The centre console has been redesigned by removing the original sliding storage cover in favour of an open compartment, alongside restyled front cup holders for improved everyday usability. For seating, premium appointments on higher variants include optional NAPPA leather upholstery, an adaptive driver seat, and a suede roof lining.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2025 Rising Auto F7 is offered in both single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations:

  • Single-Motor RWD Version: Available in multiple states of tune. The 150 kW tune (204 PS, 350 Nm of torque) pairs with a 64 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, offering a CLTC range of 500 km; the 180 kW tune (245 PS, 350 Nm of torque) is mated to a 77 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, achieving 640 km of CLTC range; a higher-output 250 kW tune (approx. 340 PS, 450 Nm of torque) is equipped with a 90 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 702 km.

  • Dual-Motor AWD Version: Generates a combined output of 400 kW (approx. 544 PS) and 700 Nm of torque, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds; fitted with a 90 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, it yields a CLTC range of 632 km.

The electric drive motors feature advanced Hair-Pin flat-wire windings and direct waterfall-type oil-cooling technology, significantly improving overall energy efficiency and thermal management. With DC fast charging, a 30% to 80% state of charge takes just 30 minutes, whilst regular AC charging requires around 10.5 to 12.5 hours.

Chassis and Handling

Underneath, the 2025 Rising Auto F7 rides on a rear-motor RWD platform (dual-motor AWD for the all-wheel-drive model), supported by a front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension setup—a premium configuration typical of performance-oriented executive sedans that strikes a sweet balance between sharp handling and ride comfort. Braking is handled by ventilated disc brakes on all four corners, complemented by an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold. Fitted with 255/45 R19 tyres, the wide contact patch ensures substantial grip. Drive modes comprise Standard/Comfort, Eco, Sport, and Snow.

Cabin and Equipment

The highlight of the cabin is the integrated triple-screen setup, which combines a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 15.05-inch OLED central infotainment display, and a 12.3-inch front passenger entertainment screen. Notably, the 15.05-inch OLED display boasts 2.5K resolution and 950 nits of peak brightness, ensuring crisp visuals and clear legibility even under direct sunlight. Rear passengers are treated to an 8-inch touchscreen to manage rear climate controls, seat adjustments, and media playback. Infotainment is driven by the RISING OS platform powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset, supporting 4G connectivity, Baidu Maps navigation, OEM smartphone screen mirroring, voice control (media, navigation, telephony, and climate control), as well as FOTA over-the-air updates.

In terms of cabin comfort, leatherette seats come standard (with NAPPA leather available as an option), complete with a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Higher-tier variants can be specced with front seat massage functions and electrically reclining rear seatbacks. An immersive 16-speaker premium audio system is fitted as standard. Air conditioning is handled by an automatic dual-zone climate control system equipped with a PM2.5 cabin air filter.

Safety and Driver Assistance

For active and passive safety, the 2025 Rising Auto F7 comes comprehensively equipped as standard with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and a full array of SRS airbags. Its high-strength cage body shell complies with five-star crash safety benchmarks under both C-IASI and C-NCAP standards.

Advanced driver assistance is delivered across all variants via the Level 2 RISING PILOT suite. Powered by a Mobileye EyeQ4H processing chip, the hardware suite integrates 5 millimetre-wave radars, 2 ultrasonic sensors, and 8 exterior cameras. Key functions include full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), a 360-degree surround-view monitor, and high-speed Navigation on Pilot (NoA) available on upper variants.

Market Performance and Verdict

Since its market entry, the Rising Auto F7 has seen relatively modest sales uptake. Rising Auto's overall brand sales averaged around 3,000 to 4,000 units monthly in 2025, with the F7 hovering at around several hundred units per month, falling short of internal targets. Industry analysts attribute this to subdued brand recall and stiff market competition. With this 2025 model year update, Rising Auto hopes to bolster competitiveness through substantial price adjustments (promotional pricing from RM162,900) and upgraded kit.

In the market, the Rising Auto F7 goes head-to-head with rivals such as the BYD Han, XPeng P7+, Tesla Model 3, and Changan Qiyuan A07. Compared to its segment peers, the F7 holds solid ground with its 3,000 mm wheelbase, slippery 0.206 Cd drag coefficient, high-tech triple-screen cockpit, and versatile RWD/AWD powertrains. However, it still trails segment front-runners when it comes to brand prestige and advanced autonomous driving software maturity.

In summary, as SAIC Motor’s key contender in the premium pure EV segment, the Rising Auto F7 presents a well-rounded package underpinned by its 5,000 mm length, 3,000 mm wheelbase, 3.7-second 0–100 km/h acceleration, and striking triple-screen interior. By adopting an "added-value, lowered-price" strategy that brings its entry point down to RM162,900, the 2025 model delivers strong bang for the buck. Nevertheless, for buyers prioritising established brand equity and cutting-edge autonomous driving tech, Rising Auto still has groundwork to cover in brand equity and customer experience.
